MJP Welcomes NFL Combine 2010 Class

Michael Johnson Performance Welcomes 2010 “Class” to Renowned NFL Combine/Pro Day Preparatory Camp

This Year’s Top Draft Prospects Include Ndamukong Suh, Jonathan Dwyer, Brandon LaFell, Sergio Kindle and Other College Stand-Outs

What: As the Saints and Colts prepare for Miami, the 2010 NFL Rookie Class is preparing for next month’s NFL Combine. And once again, many of this year’s top NFL Draft prospects will train with Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder Michael Johnson at his Performance Center in McKinney.

For five weeks, Johnson and his world class staff will prepare athletes for the physical and mental tests they will face at the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine. The program focuses not only on the athletic drills, but it also prepares athletes for the mental pressure they will face. In addition, the MJP staff offers interview skills training, Wonderlic preparation, physical therapy and nutrition counseling.

Johnson’s nationally ranked NFL Combine and Pro Day training program produced a record five first-round picks last year, including the Draft’s overall No. 10 pick, Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers). And for the second straight year, Johnson trained the Draft’s No. 1 running back – Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno, selected 12th overall by the Denver Broncos. (In 2008, Johnson trained Arkansas’ Darren McFadden, selected fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders.) Other Johnson “alumni” selected in the first round in 2009 were tight end Brandon Pettigrew (Oklahoma State, No. 20 by the Detroit Lions); offensive tackle Michael Oher (Ole Miss, No. 23 by the Baltimore Ravens); and defensive tackle Peria Jerry (Ole Miss, No. 24 by the Atlanta Falcons). In addition to his training acumen, Johnson knows how to spot talent. Last year, Johnson predicted that one of his trainees, WR Mike Wallace of Ole Miss, would be the surprise “sleeper” pick of the 2009 NFL Draft. Wallace was ultimately selected by Pittsburgh in the third round (84th overall) and finished the season as one of the bright spots in the Steelers passing game.

When: This year’s media day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16. Additional details will be forthcoming. However, if you have a specific story idea or any special requests in advance of Feb. 16, please contact Kristin Kelly at (214) 952-0047 or (214) 232-9872. About Michael Johnson Performance

In 2007, Johnson founded the Michael Johnson Performance Center, a state-of-the-art sports performance training center at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
